26th North American Mushroom Conference and the 20th Congress International Society for Mushroom Science took place on 26-29th of February in JW Marriott hotel in Las Vegas, USA. Two events in one gathered more than 500 participants. In 2024 – American mushroom market is growing. It feels good after banning of canned import of mushrooms from Europe (however some producers start complaining on Canadian mushrooms import).

Romania – the country with 10+ champignon mushroom farms for years was straggling without domestic compost. In Romania farms used to import compost from Hungary where large compost yards – Bio-Fungi, Korona and Boglar Champ are situated.

Recently Iurie Boiciuc consulted Bohdan Hanuliak’s mushroom farm in Western Ukraine. We asked him what he thought – what Iurie taught him and what he helped him with. What a result was obtained after training with Iurie Boiciuc?

Fruit Logistica 2024 took place on 7-9 of February in usual place Berlin Messe. This year it had 26 halls. From UMDIS Mushroom Agency` point of view – mushroom as the category and product was represented this year a bit stronger than last year. Some companies from Belgium, Spain who did not participate in 2023 – joined this time like Fresh Mushroom Europe, Bolets Petras, Delicious Mushroom Produce. Of course, those regulars as Banken Champignons, Limax, Qihe Biotech, Funghi Funghi, Baltic Champs and others were present.

On 4-6 of March UMDIS Mushroom Agency holds in Irelands Mushroom Harvesting Organization Course. The Course is for farm managers, managers of picking departments as well as picking leaders. We will talk most of the time about picking organization. The trainer – Lina Turovska.

In Germany they say that in the near future, casing soil without peat will be available to mushroom growers. This is evidenced by the results of the research project “MykoDeck” FNR No.: 2220MT005 (08.2021 – 07.2024). It is carried out by two scientific institutes: the Fraunhofer-Institut für Keramische Technologien und Systeme (IKTS) Institut für Holztechnologie Dresden (IHD) and the casing production company LAV Technische Dienste GmbH & Co.
