Very exotic. German supermarket Edeka

In the end of July – beginning of August in Germany consumers got the opprtunity to buy in the supermarket Edeka large range of different mushooms – as mini shiitake, mini eryngii, chantarelle, portobello. oyster mushrooms.

Thank you for the information to Sergey Honcharov, UMDIS` consultant on exotic mushroom production living in Germany.

The prices (packed 150 or 200 gr – UMDIS calculated to price per kg)

Oyster mushrooms – 15 Euro/kg

Mini eryngii – 26.7 Euro/kg

Mini shiitake – 26.7 Euro/kg

Chantarelle – 20 Euro/kg

Portabello – 20 Euro/kg

To compare – 1 kg of button mushrooms (white the same as brown) in bulk in the same supermarket cost 7.90 Euro.

Some conclusions.

  1. White button mushrooms are the same price as brown button mushrooms.
  2. The increased supply of other kinds of mushrooms beside champignons.
  3. Oyster mushrooms are circa 190% more expensive than button mushrooms.
