On 18–19 February 2021, UMDIS organized a two-day program for mushroom growers. The first day in Kyiv included a training course by Maksym Yenchenko and UMDIS experts on market structure, investments, technology, and profitability in mushroom farming. On the second day, participants visited Ukrainski Pecherytsi, one of Ukraine’s most modern farms, toured production facilities, and met the owner Mykola Lelet. The program gave attendees both practical insights and real-life examples of successful mushroom business management.
On 9–12 December 2020, UMDIS Mushroom Information Agency held a 4-day mushroom harvesting course with trainer Lina Turovska at Farm Blanche in Ukraine. Participants learned practical harvesting techniques directly on a commercial farm, working on real mistakes and challenges rather than “perfect conditions.” The training gave growers valuable insights into thinning, picker motivation, and organization of harvesting to achieve both higher yield and quality. Topics included equipment, climate control, casing soil, watering, pinning, crop flushes, harvesting, and disease management. The course was delivered by experienced trainers Maksym Yenchenko, Roman Stolper, and Natalia Ilchuk.
From 8 to 12 April 2019, advanced training courses for mushroom farm technologists took place at the Yabluniv Production Complex (YAVK) in Ukraine. More than 30 participants from various Ukrainian regions attended the program. The courses were delivered by leading specialists including Farida Fakhrutdinova (Agaris Ukraine), Roman Stolper (Mir Solomy), Maksym Yenchenko (UMDIS, Amycel), and Vasiliy Tabacaru (Amycel). The training covered all key aspects of button mushroom production, from climate control and irrigation to compost handling, casing soil, and harvesting techniques. Participants also studied common diseases and pests and explored practical solutions on the production site. At the end of the course, all attendees received official certificates as mushroom production technologists.
On 9 December 2016, UMDIS Mushroom Information Agency organized the practical seminar “Mushroom Processing Technologies” in Kyiv. The event was held at the Embassy of the Netherlands in Ukraine and gathered a small group of specialists in mushroom processing and preservation, focusing on button mushrooms, oyster mushrooms, shiitake, and other exotics. Gerrit ten Broeke, an expert from the Netherlands, shared his knowledge about technological stages of processing and necessary equipment, answering participants’ questions and providing practical recommendations. Representatives of FoodTechLink Ukraine complemented the presentation with insights into processing and freezing equipment. The seminar offered participants a valuable opportunity for professional exchange in a focused and collegial atmosphere.
From 16 to 20 May 2016, a seminar on button mushroom growing was held in Kaniv at Ponomar LLC. The program combined theoretical and practical training, giving participants the opportunity to familiarize themselves with mushroom production processes. On 18 May, a special session on selective harvesting techniques took place, with more than 30 attendees. The training was led by Lina Turovska, an experienced mushroom cultivation trainer. The seminar helped participants gain hands-on experience in mushroom harvesting and a deeper understanding of industrial production.
On 12 November 2013, UMDIS Mushroom Information Agency together with Mycogen-Ukraine organized the seminar “Cultivating Button Mushrooms on Phase III Compost” in Kyiv. A second session was later held on 14 November in Odesa for the convenience of participants. The seminar gathered over 150 attendees free of charge, making it a significant industry event in Ukraine. The keynote presentation was delivered by Bart Drissen, Director of Mycosupport, a world-renowned consultant with more than 30 years of experience in mushroom cultivation. The program also included an analysis of the Ukrainian mushroom industry by Maksym Yenchenko and a presentation by Champion, a Polish company offering construction solutions for modern mushroom farms. The seminar provided practical insights into the transition to Phase III compost, highlighting its potential to lower production costs and improve mushroom quality.
