Mushroom prices in Uzbekistan in May

UMDIS Mushroom Agency received prices on mushrooms in May from Uzbekistan.

Uzbekistan is the country where most of mushroom farms are small and simply equipped. The largest farms have up to 10 growing rooms. The climate in Uzbekistan is hot (can be up to 50 degrees C) – which makes it very hard to grow mushrooms. Specially in the growing rooms where the climate systems are poor – what we see in Uzbekistan. However, the prices on mushrooms are good, and the business is developing there.

Year by year the quality of mushrooms which Uzbek mushroom market demands is growing.

Prices

Tashkent, Uzbekistan, supermarket

40990 SOM – 300 gr package – 10 euro/kg – white button mushrooms

99990 SOM – 1kg package– 7.3 Euro/kg – white button mushrooms

20490 SOM – 300 gr – 4.97 Euro/kg – oyster mushrooms

Tashkent, Uzbekistan, farmers market

Oyster mushrooms – 2.95 Euro/kg

What we see is that the price on the market for mushrooms is nearly 50% less than in the supermarket.

Note: in the supermarket we have not seen the price per kg written on the price tag – what is usually common for Europe to have.

As well – bio mushrooms are not available.
