Mushroom Farm’s Harvesting Organization Workshop with UMDIS: Poland, February 5-8 2025

UMDIS has consulted and trained mushroom growers in numerous countries worldwide. We invites  you to a Three-Day  button(Agaricus) Mushroom Harvesting Organization Course. The workshop  set to take place from February 3 to 5, 2025, at  FUNGUS S.C. Coperative in Poland. This hands-on course is tailored for commercial mushroom farms looking to optimize their harvesting operations and achieve higher productivity without compromising the quality. We are also welcoming all those who would wish to visit large mushroom farms to oversee operations.

Participants will gain practical knowledge on building and managing an efficient harvesting department, including team motivation, planning, and coordination. The course will be led by Andrey Gladkih, a seasoned expert with over 22 years of experience in mushroom harvesting and farm management. Reflecting on the program, Andrey shares,

“Motivation and organization are the backbone of a successful harvesting department, even more critical than the equipment or techniques used.”

We will focus on creating systems that reduce staff turnover while maintaining yield and quality. Participants will explore key topics like motivation strategies, establishing departmental structures, recognizing and training promising pickers, and adapting harvesting methods to different product requirements.

You will have practical learning, with daily two-hour sessions in the farm’s growing rooms. Participants will observe hands-on demonstrations of selective harvesting techniques and have interactive Q&A sessions with the trainer. Additional classroom sessions will delve into structuring teams, implementing key performance indicators (KPIs), and establishing bonus systems to encourage efficiency among workers.

Fungus S.C, a cooperative produces 450 tons of mushrooms monthly, making it perfect for the workshop. It’s  conveniently located near Poznan Airport, with the recommended accommodation being Hotel Reśliński, just a short drive . FUNGUS S.C recently upgraded its operations with automated trolleys and runs its own composting facility, which participants will have the opportunity to tour. Seeing how a farm like Fungus S.C. operates gives participants real-world examples of how to apply the principles we discuss in class.

This course is ideal for harvesting managers, trainers, farm managers, and senior supervisors responsible for ensuring the success of their harvesting departments. Whether you’re managing over 10 pickers or planning to scale up, this workshop offers valuable insights tailored to your needs.

“Every farm, regardless of size, can benefit from improving its harvesting systems to be more cost-effective and sustainable.”– Andrey.
