Mushroom prices in Cambodia in May

UMDIS Mushroom Agency received mushroom prices in Cambodia in May.

“Button mushrooms here are imported from Holland or USA and are sold for about 25$/kg often in very poor condition”, – tells us mushroom producer from Cambodia.

In the country are grown oyster and king oyster mushrooms for retailers, as well psilocybe, and some button mushrooms.

Growing mushrooms here as well helps the surrounding communities as it gives them workplaces.

However, the prices on mushrooms do not allow most of citizens to buy mushrooms. Usually, they are bought by French people living in that country.

Prices

5.44 USD – 227 gr – 24 USD/kg – 22.34 Euro/kg – white button mushrooms.

7.38 USD – 170 gr – 43.4 USD/kg – 40.41 Euro/kg – portabello mushrooms.

Mushrooms in this shop are from USA. Just to mention – recently UMDIS Mushroom Agency published the prices on mushrooms in USA and they are about 8 euro per kg of white button mushrooms. It means mushrooms in Cambodia are 230% more expensive than in USA.

Now there are some projects in Cambodia which are intended on producing and selling domestic mushrooms for lower cost – but for now mushrooms prices in Cambodia in retail are one of the most expensive in the world.
