The first conference for mushroom growers in Uzbekistan brought together medium and large mushroom producers and compost suppliers – in Tashkent on August 1, 2023. A large mushroom farm for Uzbekistan – more than 10 rooms and 10 tons of loading.

The conference organizers are spawn supplier Amycel, UMDIS Mushroom Information Agency and compost supplier Toshkent Shampin`on. Mushroom growing in Uzbekistan is developing, new compost yards are being built, mushroom producers are increasing their volumes. Prospects were discussed at the event. The speakers were Maksym Yenchenko, Iurie Boiciuc and Inna Ustylovska. Within the framework of the conference, it was determined that the consumption of mushrooms in Uzbekistan is 200 grams per capita. Mushrooms here can be grown at 50 degrees outside. The the main difficulties for mushroom producers now are mushroom diseases, poorly structured own and expensive imported in logistics casing, price instability, as well as the task of increasing consumption.

In Uzbekistan, mushrooms are grown mainly in the region of Tashkent and Samarkand. At the same time, Samarkand can eat about 200-250 kg of mushrooms per day – Tashkent can more because the city is larger. However, according to mushroom producers in Uzbekistan, demand has tripled in just a couple of years, which tempts us to make a promising forecast.

Mushroom consumption in Uzbekistan mostly goes through restaurants. As producers explained to us, the cost of mushrooms is almost the same as the cost of meat, and with a not very rich citizens, it occurs that they have to choose meat which is more nutritious for the family. It is interesting that in Uzbekistan, unlike many other countries, mushroom prices often rise in summer. Due to declining supply.

In Uzbekistan, Belarusian and Polish mushrooms can often be found in supermarkets. By the way, it is not easy to find mushrooms as such in a store in Uzbekistan.

Every year, 50 new mushroom growers appear on the market of Uzbekistan. By the end of the year, three of them remain. The mushroom business seems enticing and simple – but as we know, it only seems so.

The cultivation of oyster mushrooms in this hot country has a longer tradition and there are more oyster mushroom producers in the country than producers of button mushrooms. The price of oyster mushrooms is $ 1.5 per kg from the farm, which is several times less than the price for champignon.

The organizers of the Conference for mushroom growers of Uzbekistan are the supplier of mycelium Amycel, UMDIS Mushroom Information Agency and the supplier of compost Toshkent Shampin`on.
