Agaris Ukraine announces plans to offer additional Phase 3 compost volumes

The company Agaris (Ukraine) has announced that it plans to offer its clients additional volumes of Phase 3 compost from both of its facilities—in Ternopil and Cherkasy regions—in the near future.

The Uman plant will increase Phase 3 compost production in May, while the Viliya plant in the Ternopil region will introduce additional volumes in September 2025.

The total additional volume of compost will be 250 tons per week.

The increase in compost production is highly anticipated by the market. Ukraine is currently experiencing a severe shortage of Phase 3 compost, in which Agaris is presently the market leader.

Since the beginning of Russia’s aggression, several compost production facilities in Ukraine have ceased operations due to various reasons. This includes:

  • Grikar (Kharkiv)
  • Veres (Kanev)
  • Agro-Tandem (Dnipropetrovsk region)

While Phase 2 compost is easier to obtain, mushroom growers who have already worked with Phase 3 compost generally prefer it.

Despite the long-standing deficit of Phase 3 compost, the war has made businesses hesitant to invest in large-scale projects. As a result, no new composting facilities have been established in recent years.

While Agaris’ additional compost volumes will help ease the situationthe fundamental shortage will remain.

We are pleased to share some photos of the construction of new compost tunnels, provided to us by the company.
