Sylvan to Acquire EuroMycel from Bonduelle

October 17, 2024 – Langeais, France – Sylvan, a major player in fungal biotechnology, has announced its plan to acquire EuroMycel, a French Agaricus mushroom spawn producer, from Bonduelle. This acquisition aims to enhance Sylvan’s production capabilities in Europe, supporting their growing demand for spawn products. The deal is set to close by the end of 2024, pending legal and administrative approvals.

With this acquisition, Sylvan will gain access to EuroMycel’s additional production capacity, which is important for the implementation of Sylvan’s Strategy 2028. This strategic plan emphasizes the commercialisation of innovative mushroom strains and advanced fungal solutions. EuroMycel, renowned for its high-quality Agaricus strains and expertise in grain-based spawn production, will help Sylvan serve a broader European market.

EuroMycel, founded in 1998, was acquired by Bonduelle in 2010. It has since grown into a key player in the European market, known for its reliable spawn production. Frédéric Mathieu, EuroMycel’s Managing Director, expressed optimism.
