In Romania yesterday two mushroom producers from different parts of Romania informed UMDIS agency that the demand for mushrooms is decreasing. “All clients, supermarkets start order less mushrooms,” – tells one producer. Explaining that mushroom went into the competition with seasonal fruits and vegetables as it often occurs in such season.“That is always in Romania that demand reduces in June, July and August”, – tells us another mushroom producer. Demand for mushrooms is usually high in Romania in December, also in spring.
The smaller orders from clients definitely influence the price. Now the farm gate price per 1kg of mushrooms can be 1.6 Euro, while it reached even 2 Euro recently before the demand went down.
The situation is not easy taking into account the increasing rate for people work and 4-5 time larger prices for electricity comparing with 1.5 years ago. As UMDIS agency was told, 2 years ago the price kWh electricity was nearly 0.2-0.25 RON, while now 0.2-0.25 Euro (and nearly 1 to 5 is the exchange rate).
