Annual German Conference of the Bund Deutscher Champignon (BDC)

Today, September 27, 2024, the annual conference of the Association of German Mushroom and Cultivated Mushroom Growers (BDC) has officially started. This key event gathers mushroom cultivation professionals to discuss a wide range of important topics, including the latest innovations and challenges in the industry.

Key topics on the agenda include the campaign “Media House Healthy Mushrooms,” delivered by Michael Legrand, as well as a presentation on the potential and limitations of peat replacement in mushroom production. There will also be discussions on the challenges in sourcing alternative materials for cultivation. Additionally, the conference will address packaging innovations, with presentations on sustainable solutions for fresh mushrooms by industry leaders like Marco Conen from Magic Pack Deutschland GmbH and Holger Jentschke from Saica Flex UK Limited.

Other notable presentations include a travel report on the mushroom industry in China, as well as practical experiments and risk analysis in mushroom production by Eric Philipsen of Legro Group and Guido Linders of Kekkilä-BVB.

The additional program offers a diverse cultural experience, with visits to local mushroom farms such as OMPilze GmbH and Goldenstedter Bio-Pilze GmbH. Attendees will also have the opportunity to visit an alpaca farm, enjoy a wine tasting at a local vineyard in Oldenburg Münsterland, and explore the region’s agricultural offerings.

This conference provides a unique platform for industry professionals to exchange knowledge, explore new trends, and find solutions to current challenges in mushroom cultivation.
