The annual Chinese Mushroom Festival returns to Zhangzhou, Fujian Province, from November 17-19, 2024. Led by Liu Zi Qiang, the event will be hosted by the China Chamber of Commerce for Foodstuffs and Native Produce (CFNA) at Yuanshan Fliport Hotel. This year’s event will focus on the edible mushroom sector- sustainable practices, innovations in processing, and international market dynamics.
Re-established post-COVID in 2023, Chinese Mushroom Days has grown into a global gathering for the mushroom industry.
As described by Academician Li Yu,
” Chinese Mushroom Festival attracts peers from all over the world; as a window to show the advanced technology level of our edible fungi cultivation today; as a platform for experts, scholars, enterprises, etc. at home and abroad to seek common development through exchanges and discussions; as a school, it becomes a bridge for the new generation in the field of fungi research and production to learn, grow and progress the industry.”
This conference will include discussions on the international edible mushroom industry, straw-based mushroom cultivation, and processing of edible mushrooms. The event will feature keynote speeches, specialized sessions, and exhibitions. The event also aim to empower the younger generation and cultivate new forces for the industry.
CNFA hosts two major events annually. UMDIS reached out to understand the difference and this is what we know:
April exhibition covers a broad spectrum of mushroom varieties, including exotic and specialty types, emphasizing on local participation. This year’s edition was held on April 22-24, 2024. November’s event, on the other hand, centers on Agaricus (button) mushrooms and attracts a more international audience, with notable foreign exhibitors joining to showcase their products.
