During the weekend on 10th-11th of September The Mushroom Festival in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania took place, – UMDIS Mushroom Information Agency reports. That is annual B2C event which attracts many mushroom lovers. Kennett Square is the region in USA where lots of mushroom farms are traditionally situated.Hundreds of vendors, cooking demos, educational displays and the mushroom eating contest are there.
Mushroom farms had their beautiful booths and goodies. For example, South Mill Champs prepared SHROOMS iced coffee – coffee made with mushrooms.
“Mostly it has the local merchants and restaurants with their booths selling their products. Most of the local mushroom farms donate fresh mushrooms to the festival to sell to make money for their non-profit & scholarship donations. A few of the mushroom companies have a booth to sell their value-added mushroom related products, such as mushroom coffee or mushroom jerky, – explains us Emily Bettencourt from South Mill Champs.
“There is one big tent where all the local mushroom industry (farms, growers, compost, spawn, equipment) comes together for an educational display of how mushrooms are grown. People who work in the industry volunteer to talk to the festival goers about composting, phase 1 & 2, spawn, growing, harvesting white button mushrooms and spent compost. There are also some oyster & shiitake logs”, – tells UMDIS Emily Bettencourt from South Mill.
Festival is a part of National Mushroom Month celebration.
