But at this time in 2022 we had a new situation, – Rob Banken from Banken Champignons during Fruit Logistica

In one of the first halls, UMDIS Mushroom Information Agency found probably the most experiences player on Fruit Logostica from our mushroom industry. I mean well-known Dutch company Banken Champignons.

– We have been participating in Fruit Logistica for 30 years, – tells UMDIS Rob Banken, owner of Banken Champignons, a very famous Dutch mushroom wholesaler. The company is in the top 100 agricultural companies in Holland. – We export Dutch, Polish, Belgian mushrooms throughout Europe, to 30 countries. While 5% of our mushrooms go outside Europe. Here we meet with our clients, talk about their sales of fresh mushrooms, and discuss new delivery programs.Banken Champignons had very beautiful booth on the fair. Not too large – but decorated with taste and with allusion to the long company`s history. Different fresh mushrooms were presented everywhere on the booth.

– How many types of products do you have? – asked UMDIS.

-We sell 30 types of mushrooms. And can make hundreds of concepts of their mixtures to sell, – smiles Rob.

According to Rob – 80% of mushrooms Banken Champignons sell to food retail, and 20% to food service. Mushrooms which they sell to food retail go in packaging, while mushrooms to food service they sell in loose.

-I am for many years in mushroom market, – shares Rob Banken. – Customers always want the lowest price and the best quality. But at this time in 2022 we had a new situation with energy crisis – so prices for mushrooms went up. Otherwise, producers won`t produce anymore because it costs too much money. So, as you are a buyer and you want to buy mushrooms – you should accept that prices go up. At the same time producers should except that the quality always needs to be good – or you will not be able to sell your mushrooms anymore.Article 3 from 5 in series of articles about Fruit Logistica.
